A standing, co-owned forum for AI literacy and readiness in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.

What the Dialogue is for

Real AI work is under way across government, business, academia and civil society in Trinidad and Tobago, and many initiatives are not coordinated. The Dialogue is a standing table where that work is connected and carried through to implementation.

Vision. A Caribbean where leaders across every sector make AI and digital decisions from shared understanding and evidence, and where the region helps shape how AI is used rather than receiving it.

Mission. To convene an honest, evidence-led dialogue across the private sector, government, academia and civil society that connects the AI work already under way and carries it into implementation, with results visible within one to two years.

Our values

Neutral. Co-owned and non-commercial. It sells nothing and advances no single firm.

Evidence-led. Progress is measured and published, including where the numbers are uncomfortable.

Implementation over reports. Judged on what is implemented and working within one to two years.

Honest. The difficult conversation is held in the open, across disagreement.

Build on what exists. Existing efforts are strengthened before anything new is started.

Inclusive. The private sector at the centre, with government, academia and civil society, across the region.

Where the Dialogue fits

The region's AI space is active and well led. The Dialogue works alongside the bodies already leading it, and fills a gap none of them is set up to fill.

Regional policy and coordination. Regional bodies, with regional AI recommendations moving to implementation.

Research, innovation and commercialisation. The region's universities and research centres.

Development partners. Supporting national AI and digital programmes.

Regional forums and events. Convening the region's AI community.

One dialogue, one cohesive message to the country and the region.

The gap the Dialogue fills

No standing body brings the private sector together on AI across the region. Business bodies serve their own members or their own island. The Dialogue convenes business leaders with government, academia and civil society, and invites regional bodies to take a seat.

How the Dialogue works

Collaboration, communication and transparency need a regular rhythm. These are the formats the Dialogue will use.

CONVENE

Roundtables and breakfast sessions. Cross-sector sessions that turn a technical question into a business or policy decision.

Sector working groups. Manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and e-governance, each returning with one or two commitments.

Annual conference. The flagship gathering, tied to the yearly readiness refresh, where each sector reports what moved.

BUILD CAPABILITY

Workshops for civil society. Practical sessions with community, youth and advocacy organisations on what AI means for the people they serve.

Training and leadership briefings. AI literacy for boards, CFOs, compliance officers and permanent secretaries, delivered with academic and industry partners.

Caribbean AI Solutions Directory. An open directory where organisations across the region list their AI solutions and initiatives, without endorsement, so that businesses, governments and delegates can find partners and solutions.

CONNECT AND REPRESENT

Supporting existing initiatives. Promoting, co-hosting or sponsoring work already under way, so it is strengthened rather than duplicated.

Cross-nation, cross-sector events. Joint sessions with counterparts across CARICOM, so practice and lessons travel between countries.

Trade shows and conferences. A Caribbean voice at regional and international events, including the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance, New York, 3–4 May 2027.

How this builds transparency. Every format ends with named commitments, owners and dates. Progress on implementation is published and reported back at the annual conference.

Independent by design

Neutral and non-commercial, built to connect the AI work already under way. The Dialogue is co-owned by its founders and advances no single firm.

No founder sells services through the Dialogue.

Any member with a commercial interest in a matter declares it.

Members take part in a personal capacity unless their institution formally signs off.

Ways to take part

The roles can be combined, and each creates value on its own.

Co-founder. One of seven founders, as an individual or as an institution through its head or a nominee. Shapes the charter and agenda, and owns one or two commitments.

Advisor. A place on the advisory group without the founding load. Guidance on evidence, methods and agenda.

Supporter and participant. Lead or join roundtables, briefings, sector working groups and the annual conference.

Sponsor. Funding or in-kind support, such as venues, for the secretariat, free sessions or the annual conference.
